Mukteswar Club emerged champions in the 1st Puspalata Garabadu Memorial Masters T20 Cricket Tournament, edging Paramount Sporting by one run in the exciting all-Bhubaneswar final here at Town Club ground today.
The champion team received a cash prize of Rs 20,000, while the runners-up outfit took home Rs 10,000. Bhubaneswar Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena handed over the trophy and prizes at the closing ceremony.
The highlight of the final match was a masterly knock of 88 (56 balls) by Paramount batsman Amaresh Mohanty. He bagged three individual prizes as man of the final match, best batsman and man of the tournament. Rashmi Ranjan Das (Paramount) pocketed the best bowler prize, while the best fielder prize was shared by Sampad Pattnaik (Paramount) and Madhab Khuntia (Pioneer Gold).
Town Club organised the tournament on the occasion of its 80th birth anniversary from February 28. Altogether eight teams, featuring players aged above 32 years, participated in the tournament.

February 28 (Match No 1, QF): Saheed Sporting, Bhubaneswar 164/3 in 20 overs (Abinash Rath 45, Bikash Mohanty 37, Saroj Barik 35) beat Juvenile Club, Cuttack 93/10 in 17.3 overs (Mathura Sethi 26; Saroj Barik 3 wkts, P Jaykrishna and Deepak Mohapatra each 2 wkts) by 71 runs. MoM: Saroj Barik.
March 1 (Match No 2, QF): Biswabharati Club, Cuttack 91/10 in 19.1 overs (Partha Acharya 27; Rashmi Ranjan Das 3/11, Krishna Sethi and Sarat Sahoo each 2 wkts) lost to Paramount Sporting, Bhubaneswar 92/2 in 13 overs (Gyana Ranjan Sahoo 35, Dipti Ranjan Jena 23*) by 8 wkts. MoM: Rashmi Ranjan Das.
March 2 (Match No 3, QF): Pioneer Gold, Puri 179/4 in 20 overs (Deepak Mohant 74*, Khirod Mishra 60, Alok Das 28; Dipti Ranjan Pattnaik 3/3) beat Young Veterans, Bhubaneswar 163/7 in 20 overs (Narayan Moharana 60, Purna Moharana 48, Hitesh Kumar Das 22; Alok Das 4/28, Madhab Khuntia 3/37) by 16 runs. March 3 (Match No 4, QF): Union Sporting, Cuttack 88/10 in 18.1 overs (Sumant Nayak 24; Chitta Ranjan Swain 4/11, Dattatreya Mishra 2 wkts) lost to Mukteswar Cricket Club, Bhubaneswar 89/0 in 8 overs (Prashant Biswal 43*) by 10 wkts. MoM: Chitta Ranjan Swain.
March 4 (Match No 5, SF): Pioneer Gold 131/9 in 20 overs (Rabindra Mohanty 29, Agnish Ray 23; Siddharth Sankar Pani and Chitta Ranjan Swain each 3 wkts, Mukesh Sharma 2 wkts) lost to Muketeswar Cricket Club 133/2 in 17.2 overs (Prashant Biswal 35, Sukanta Jena 32, Angel Romi Mishra 30*, Sambit Harichandan 25*; Pulak Mohanty 2 wkts) by 8 wkts.
